Why the Alpinehorns of Gérald POT are different from the others :
- Only the best materials are used.
- They are entirely manufacutred by hand.
- Every instrument is carelully controlled at all the stages of manufacturing.
- Every instrument is adjusted individually and controlled by several professionals.
Which are the materials used :
- For the Alpinehorn, it is the same wood that the violin makers use for their tables of violins, wich is spruce which has the characteristic to be a wood of resonance, he's 400 years old and even more.
- Each wood log was chosen by a specialist according to quite particular criterias before being cut and dried during 5 to 8 years.
- The casings of connection between the extensions are made of high strength anodized aluminium in order to avoid any corrosion or ovalization.
- In order to ensure a maximum sealing, each casing is equipped with special joints.
- The decorative crown is generally carried out in wallnutwood.
- The mouthpiece holder is generally carried out in boxwood.
Why are they entirely manufactured by hand :
- Wood is a material which does not have a uniform structure like metals, also any work with a computer controlled machine could never reach the smoothness and finesse which can have an experienced craftsman.
- Consequently, each instrument is thus single and was manufactured in order to draw the maximum from the materials which constitute it.
Why it is necessary to wait to have an Alpinehorn from Gérald POT :
- Did you already succeed in the very same day obtaining a smoking suit to measure in a rare fabric carried out by a famous craftsman in a department store ?
